Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings” series: Another sequel found for Peter Jackson – Series News

Peter Jackson is not involved in the “Lord of the Rings” series, which is scheduled to start on Amazon Prime Video in 2021. The staging is therefore taken over by other filmmakers. After JA Bayona, Wayne Che Yip is the second director.

Director Peter Jackson once wrote film history with his congenial cinema adaptation of JRR Tolkien’s groundbreaking fantasy saga “The Lord of the Rings”. It will be all the more difficult to follow in the great footsteps of the New Zealander, who is not involved in the production, in the upcoming “Lord of the Rings” series.

It has long been clear that the Spaniard JA Bayona (“Jurassic World 2”, “Seven Minutes After Midnight”) will take on the difficult legacy and be responsible for the staging of the first two episodes. But he doesn’t have to bear the directing burden alone:

With Wayne Che Yip, Amazon has now announced another director for the “Lord of the Rings” series – who even sits behind the wheel for a total of four episodes and will thus also put his stamp on the series (even if Bayona, as the maker of the first episodes, will probably set the style).

Like Bayona, Yip will not only be directing the film, but will also be producing the project, which is currently filming in New Zealand.

This is Wayne Che Yip

The British-Chinese director Wayne Yip already has relevant series experience. In contrast to JA Bayona, strictly speaking, he has so far exclusively series episodes (and a few short films), but no cinema films are in his vita. His previous work includes several episodes of popular genre series such as Doctor Who, Preacher and Doom Patrol.

He has also already dabbled in the adaptation of a major fantasy brand also being produced for Amazon Prime Video as one of the directors of the upcoming The Wheel Of Time series. He apparently convinced the online provider so much with his work that he has now been brought on board for “The Lord of the Rings”.

That’s what the Lord of the Rings series is all about

Amazon’s The Lord of the Rings is set thousands of years before the action of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings trilogy in what is known as the Second Age of Middle-earth, where we will encounter many new characters as well as some familiar ones.

Little is officially known about the exact content. But the timeline of the story and various clues suggest that it will be about the rise and fall of the fabled island kingdom of Númenor, the rise of the dark ruler Sauron and the forging of the Rings of Power, among other things.

When does The Lord of the Rings start on Amazon Prime Video?

The “Lord of the Rings” series still has no concrete start date, although it is still rumored that it will be released in late 2021 Amazon Prime Video* should appear.

After the many delays in the past, two actors who left and the relatively late announcement of a second director, a release this year is by no means set in stone.

Actor leaves “Lord of the Rings” series – although his episodes are already finished!
