G7: We have succeeded in reducing dependence on Russian power carriers

Russia – The G7 countries announced that they have made significant progress in reducing their dependence on Russian energy carriers, especially gas.

She said in a statement following the meeting of energy and environment ministers in the Italian city of Turin on Tuesday: “We note that the G7 countries have made significant progress in reducing dependence on Russian energy carriers, including by saving energy and reducing demand for gas.”

The statement indicated that the countries of the group are striving to end their heavy dependence on Russian gas as soon as possible, stressing that limiting Russian energy revenues is an important part of these countries’ support for Ukraine.

The group also criticized Russia’s “takeover” of the Zaporozhye nuclear plant in Ukraine, claiming that this poses serious risks to nuclear safety and security.

The group affirmed its commitment to reducing dependence on Russian supplies of civilian products related to nuclear energy, including promoting a diverse series of fuel supplies free of “Russian influence,” while assisting countries seeking to diversify their supplies.

It stressed its commitment to achieving a completely carbon-neutral energy sector by 2035, while reducing methane emissions.

She noted that global investment in renewable energy is expected to double to more than $60 billion by 2030.
