Pittsburgh offered Malkin and Letang contracts for 3 years with a cap-hit of $5 million, Crosby was unhappy.
Insider Rob Rossi reported that Pittsburgh made offers of new contracts to the striker Evgeni Malkin and defender Chris Letangwho can become unrestricted free agents.
Both veterans were offered pay cut agreements for 3 years with a $5 million caphit.
Under the current contract, the average salary of Malkin is 9.5 million dollars, Letang – 7.25.
According to insider Frank Seravalli, the Letanga camp wants the new contract to be at least 5 years long and at least $7 million in salary.
Earlier it was reported that Malkin willing to take a pay cutto stay with Pittsburgh, but going down to $5 million might be too much of a discount.
Furthermore, as Andrew Phillipponi states with reference to Rossi, Sidney Crosby was dissatisfied with the conditions that the club offered to his longtime partners.
The Pittsburgh captain himself has a contract with the club until 2025 with a cap hit of $8.7 million.
