In the heart of the village of Montpézat, the Dolium, a space of more than 200m² which was inaugurated in the presence of Xavier Brunetière, prefect of the Gers, and many departmental and Savès personalities. The mayor, Guy Larée, after having made the history of his village, warmly thanked Olivier Cabrol, president of the CERAMES association (Center of Exhibitions and Archaeological Research of Montpézat En Savès) for his initiative. “This museum is undeniably an asset for Montpézat, you have done remarkable work and the objects discovered, exhibited, demonstrate the richness of our territory of Savès”, underlined Guy Larée.

More than 600 admissions in 2021

It must be said that since 2017, in view of the quantity and quality of the objects collected, the opening of a place dedicated to the public has germinated in the mind of Olivier Cabrol, who has made available a building, which was a former silo, thus becoming an archaeological museum: the Dolium. With more than 600 admissions in 2021, the Dolium is launched to the great satisfaction of its initiator. “I would first like to thank the Department which, thanks to the launch of the first participatory budget in the Gers, which we won, enabled us to finance our splendid showcases and our IT tools. A huge thank you also to the volunteers who, tirelessly, helped me for 3 years to restore and develop this place. »

“By the quality of its welcome, the energy of its inhabitants, the richness of its recently renovated heritage: market hall, church, Gensac windmill and now a museum, Montpézat has become the village of Savès that you absolutely must visit” , said Olivier Cabrol, who also did not fail to thank with a lot of emotion in his voice, his wife Véronique, “who believed in my project and accompanied me to the end”.
