Roche Healthcare Inc said on Wednesday it is developing three test kits to detect monkeypox.
It comes after the detection of cases of the disease in many countries around the world, especially Europe and North America, two regions where the virus is not usually endemic.
Britain, France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Sweden, Austria, the Netherlands and Belgium announced cases of the disease. The United States, Canada and Australia also announced the monitoring of injuries.
Meanwhile, the manufacturer of the monkeypox vaccine “Evanix” ruled out a shortage of vaccines, with cases of the disease detected in several countries around the world.
In statements to dpa, Rolf Sass Sorensen, spokesman for the Danish-German company Bavarian Nordic, said today, Wednesday, “We believe that we can meet global demand without investing more in our production facilities.”
