The cross-country event at the CHIO in Aachen was overshadowed by an accident with serious consequences. World Champion Rosalind Canter’s horse Allstar is put to sleep.
On Saturday (July 2nd, 2022) Allstar had lost his left front leg after a failed jump. There hadn’t been a fall, the 17-year-old Allstar may have hit his leg against an obstacle.
CHIO tournament director Frank Kemperman brought bad news in the WDR interview. “Unfortunately, the clinic had to determine that the injury could no longer be operated on. The owners have decided that the horse will be euthanized. This is of course very bad news.”
