The Ukrainian state energy company Naftogaz has declared default. The company cannot make payments to bondholders and points to the corresponding government prohibition.
“The government went into default on Naftogaz Eurobonds. Today, July 26, 2022, the deadline for payments by NJSC Naftogaz to holders of Eurobonds has expired,” the company’s telegram channel says on July 26.
Previously, Naftogaz pointed to a lack of funds to pay Eurobond holders and asked for a two-year delay, but the creditors refused the request.
