At 00:15 hours this Thursday, an earthquake was recorded in the Antofagasta region.
According to information from the National Seismological Center, the telluric movement had a magnitude of 5.8and the epicenter was located 19.26 kilometers northwest of Tocopilla.
Likewise, the depth of the tremor was estimated at 33 kilometers by the agency.

So far, the situation has not generated major complications, damage to infrastructure or alterations to basic services.
Alsomo, Hydrographic and Oceanographic Service of the Navy (SHOA) indicated that “the characteristics of the earthquake no meet the conditions necessary to generate a tsunami on the coast of Chile”.
