If Russia loses the war and the mood changes
Putin’s escape plan to Syria
The Kremlin dictator is prepared for any eventuality: If the mood in the country changes, Vladimir Putin is said to be planning to leave Russia. Apparently he has already decided who he wants to live with in exile afterwards: an old friend.
Russian President Vladimir Putin (69) wants to flee Russia if he loses the war in Ukraine. This is what a Russian, allegedly a Kremlin insider and former secret service officer, writes in a telegram. On his channel, he disseminates information about the Russian government and internal processes almost every day.
Russia has now prepared “evacuation plans” for Putin if his army is defeated in Ukraine and the mood in the country should change. The Russian President is in view of his stockenden Donbass-Offensive and the Russian economy, which is suffering from the sanctions, aware of the possibility of a change in mood in the country and even a revolt.
Asylum request from Bashar al-Assad?
In that case, Putin’s plane would be ready. He would flee to Syria with his family and followers and want to live there in exile, claims the Telegram channel of “General SVR”. Putin stood by Syrian leader Bashar al-Assad (56) in the civil war in 2015.
However, the flight from Russia to Syria would pass through the airspace of Turkey, a NATO member state. If Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan (68) refused permission for the Putin plane, it would destroy Putin’s quickest and possibly only escape route. Erdogan and Putin have a complex relationship: they have been friends or foes at different times over the past decade.
Iran would be another enemy of the West who might be interested in Putin’s fate. The alleged ex-officer says: “Basically, it is advantageous for Iran and Turkey to keep the Russian president in exile in reserve and, depending on the situation, to use him as a means of exerting pressure or as a bargaining chip.” (ct)
