Two cases of monkeypox confirmed in Venezuela

The patients are travelers from Brazil and Peru.

Two travelers who entered Venezuela from Brazil and Peru tested positive for monkeypox.

The information was released by the Minister of Science and Technology, Gabriela Jiménez.

The patients are receiving medical attention and their health conditions are stable. For now, health authorities are evaluating close contacts with these travelers.

It is unknown in which localities the patients are located.

“The national epidemiological surveillance system is active as part of the actions instructed by President Nicolás Maduro. The Rafael Rangel National Institute of Hygiene and the Ministry of People’s Power for Health, in coordination, monitor the cases,” the minister stressed.

He also called on the population to comply with prevention.
