A serious traffic accident occurred on the E40 near Gistel this Saturday evening. A car carrying four adults and two children is involved.
The circumstances of the accident are not yet clear but it would seem that the motorist deviated from his trajectory to find himself in the wrong direction on the highway.
Several ambulances, an SMUR vehicle, a medical helicopter, the police and firefighters were dispatched to the scene.
Two people were seriously injured, according to information from the Nieuwslbad.
The accident caused major traffic disruptions in the direction of France.
