St. John’s – The Caribbean island state of Antigua and Barbuda is to become a republic according to the will of the head of government. Queen Elizabeth II was the head of state in the former British colony until her death. King Charles III was confirmed as the new head of state in a ceremony in the capital St. John’s on Saturday. But shortly followingwards Prime Minister Gaston Browne told British broadcaster ITV that he wanted to hold a referendum within three years.
