Jacques takes a radical decision to reduce his energy bills and moves into his motorhome: “I live here three-quarters of the time”

by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

At 66, Jacques did the calculations with his son: the retiree would have to pay 8,000 euros per year for his energy bills, not to mention other fixed costs. “8,000 euros divided by 12, that’s regarding 700 euros. It’s half of my retirement. I think it’s a bit big. So the solution is to live in the motorhome“, he confides to us.

And these were not empty words. The resident of Estaimpuis has actually moved into his motorhome, parked just in front of his four-sided house. “I live here (in the motorhome) three-quarters of the time. It allows me to be very economical without heating. For a small 20 euros per week I warm myself. It also allows me to cook. I have TV. I’m good what“, he confides to us.

Jacques will live in his vehicle for a few weeks. He will leave for the south of Portugal at the end of October to spend the winter there in a milder climate.
