According to TMZ, Artis Leon Ivey Jr., better known as Coolio, died Wednesday at a friend’s house in Los Angeles.
The 59-year-old was reportedly in the bathroom and following a while his friend went to check, worrying that he was missing. He would have found Coolio lying on the ground. Paramedics were called and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The rapper’s manager confirmed the news.
Having worked in the LA rap scene in the late 80s, it was in 1995 that Coolio was discovered by the general public thanks to his monster hit Gangsta’s Paradise.
