the american president Joe Biden warned this Thursday that the hurricane Ian may have been the “deadliest” in Florida history and claimed that will travel to the site “when conditions permit”.
“This could be the hurricane deadliest in history of Florida,” he said after a visit to the premises of the agency in charge of natural disasters (FEMA) in Washington, the AFP agency reported.
“The numbers are not yet clear, but we received information that show a substantial loss of life” by the hurricane, which devastated parts of this southeastern state of USA.
The president said that “when conditions permit, I will go to Florida,” and added that he would also plans to visit the Caribbean island territory of Puerto Rico, still recovering from Hurricane Fiona.

Ian, downgraded to a tropical storm, made landfall Wednesday afternoon as a category 4 hurricane (on a scale of 5) in southwestern Florida, before continuing its path through the state, with strong winds and torrential rain. Some material damage was already visible a few hours after the hurricane passed.
For these hours more than 2.6 million homes or businesses remained without electricity, out of a total of 11 million, according to the specialized site PowerOutage.
Bidendeclared this Thursday the state of disaster in florida by the passage of the hurricane Iancategory 4, which implies funds for home repairs and temporary shelter, after the meteorological phenomenon forced the order to evacuation of more than 2 million people.
With the official declaration, the president ordered the delivery of federal aid to local authorities to begin work on recovery in the most affected areas, especially in Charlotte, Collier, DeSoto, Hardee, Hillsborough, Lee, Manatee, Pinellas, and Sarasota counties.
