Jil Teichmann (WTA 36) was eliminated in the first round of the WTA 500 tournament in Ostrava. The Seelandaise lost 7-6 (7/1) 7-6 (7/5) to Czech guest Tereza Martincova (78).
This defeat, her 9th in 13 matches played since Roland-Garros where she had reached the round of 16, is infuriating. Teichmann indeed seemed to have the game in hand after a perfect start. She was indeed leading 5-1 in the 1st set, after having won the first 4 games at a run.
The left-hander – who even missed 2 balls in the 1st set at 5-2 on her serve – however did not give up in this part. Led 7-6 4-2, she won 3 consecutive games to fully revive her actions. But she again flinched in the “money time”, erasing all the same 3 consecutive match points.
