Ferrari confirms online publication of confidential documents

Automaker Ferrari confirmed on Monday that several internal documents have been posted online but found no evidence of a breach of its systems or a cyberattack.

In recent hours, several sources have mentioned a cyberattack targeting the Ferrari manufacturer in Italy but, although the firm with the prancing horse confirmed that some internal documents were posted online, Ferrari added that it had “no proof” of a possible breach of its systems and that there had been no disruption to its business and operations.

“Ferrari is aware that some media have reported Ferrari’s possible loss of information and the presence of certain documents online.” said the communications director at Ferrari to the specialized site Red Hot Cyber.

“Ferrari has no evidence of a breach of its systems or ransomware and advises that there has been no disruption to its business and operations. The Company is working to identify the source of the event and will take all necessary measures.”

In total, just over 10,000 files concerning technical files, reservation contracts or even repair manuals have been put online. It is not known, however, if the sports management of Maranello (the Formula 1 team) was affected by this “attack”.
