Mustafa Paytas, Minister Delegate in charge of relations with Parliament and the official spokesman for the government, revealed clarifications regarding the increase in the amount of 10 dirhams in a bottle of butane gas, based on the requirements of the draft finance law for the year 2024 approved by Parliament, which approved a measure that includes starting to liberalize the price of “butane gas.” ” gradually.

Paytas said, in response to a journalist’s question on the sidelines of the press conference that followed the government council yesterday, Thursday, “There is no increase in the price of a bottle of gas at the present time,” adding that “when there is a decision to increase, we will announce it, and national public opinion will be informed through the channels.” known.”

The government official’s statement came after Moroccans waited with great anticipation for the price of a bottle of gas to rise starting next May 1, after it was confirmed that the increase would not be implemented at the beginning of this month, in line with what the government announced earlier regarding raising the price of a bottle of gas by 10 dirhams in the context of Measures to reduce state support expenses within the Clearing Fund, in a gradual manner.

The government is working to compensate vulnerable and poor families affected by this liberation, through the direct social support programme, which has been in operation since the beginning of this year, as it is expected that a 10 dirham increase in the price of a bottle of gas will save the state treasury more than one billion dirhams annually, noting that The Clearing Fund annually pays 15 billion dirhams to support butane gas prices
