Dutch world champion Max Verstein starts first in the Japanese Grand Prix, the 18th round of the Formula 1 World Championship, today, following leading the results of official qualifying yesterday.
The Red Bull driver, who is seeking his second title in a row, set the fastest time at Suzuka, with a time of 1:29.304, ahead of Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc of Monaco and Spain’s Carlos Sainz.
But the Dutchman might find himself in trouble, following officials indicated they would investigate an incident with British McLaren driver Lando Norris.
Norris was forced off the tracks to the grass following he caught Verstappen in front of him to avoid him, while the Red Bull driver said on his team radio: “It’s unbelievable.”
Verstappen can win the second title in a row if he wins the race, in addition to achieving the fastest lap regardless of other results, or if he wins once morest Leclerc in third place or less.
