Hockey: NHL: Detroit and Seider win first game of the season – Bietigheim-Bissingen

Under new head coach Derek Lalonde, Seider, who was named NHL Rookie of the Year last season, got his usual ice time and was very active with six shots, five hits and two blocks. Elmer Soderblom gave the Red Wings the lead early in the third period, while Michael Rasmussen and Olli Maatta each found empty Canadiens goals just before the end.
