by Alexandra Hartman Editor-in-Chief

The record for distance traveled by a spacecraft capable of carrying a crew was set in 1970 during the famous Apollo 13 mission. The astronauts had at the time crossed 400,171 kilometers and above all faced countless challenges following the explosion of an oxygen tank.

Record beat!

Although the mission Artemis was not spared from technical problemsthe situation turns out to be less critical all the same, especially since it is a first test carried out without a crew… Anyway, NASA has announced that the Orion capsule has exceeded the 434,000 kilometers distance, setting a new record.

The return to Earth of the Orion capsule is scheduled for December 11it will come to rest in the Pacific Ocean following crossing space for more than 25 days. In the meantime, it is placed in orbit around the Moon.
