families hosted in a high school

After spending the weekend in Meyzieuthe 38 families who survived the deadly fire of Vaulx-en-Velin of December 16 will be welcomed in a high school from this Monday, December 19. Location to be determined “on the proposal of the Regional Council”, describes the prefecture in a press release. The final rehousing of the families was discussed at a meeting on December 18 between the various competent authorities without however reaching any further details.

The regional and Rhône prefect Pascal Mailhos, the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin Hélène Geoffroy and the vice-president of the Métropole de Lyon in charge of Housing Renaud Payre have decided to support families on a case-by-case basis with the creation of a specific rehousing cell. “The landlords of the Metropolis of Lyon have been asked to list the housing offers. Both public and private parks will be mobilised”describes the prefecture.

It was also decided to reinforce security in the Mas du Taureau district, where the fire took place.
