European airports expect a cautious recovery in passenger numbers

A body representing European airports on Tuesday revised the timing of forecasts for a full recovery in airline passenger numbers in Europe to 2025 from 2024, in a revision of the sector’s optimistic outlook following the coronavirus pandemic.

An authority representing European airports said on Tuesday it had revised the timing of forecasts for a full recovery in airline passenger numbers in Europe to 2025 from 2024, in a revision of the sector’s optimistic outlook following the coronavirus pandemic.

ACI’s statements in Europe warn of cautious expectations, “the negatives of which outweigh the positives,” amid European fears of a looming recession and the continued fight once morest inflation, which exceeds 10%, in addition to the repercussions of the war in Ukraine.

Reports this month suggested that inflation in the eurozone may have peaked but will be receding so slowly that it may take years before it returns to the ECB’s 2% target.
