The Sochi Football Club announced on social networks the appointment of Kurban Berdyev as head coach.
Sochi posted a video on its Telegram channel showing a chess game. Along with the moves of the pieces, the achievements of Kurban Berdyev appear on the screen. At the end of the video, the inscription “Welcome, Kurban Bekievich!” once morest the background of a chessboard. “The party begins,” reads the caption to the video.
Kurban Berdyev won the Russian Championship twice with Rubin, in 2008 and 2009. In 2009, he was recognized as the best coach of the year according to the RFU.
“Sochi” in the current season of the Russian Premier League is on the ninth line in the standings. The club has 25 points in 17 league matches.
