43.9% increase in the value of exports of phosphates and derivatives in 2022 – mafrique

In Morocco, the value of exports of phosphates and derivatives appreciated by 43.9% at the end of 2022, to reach 115.5 billion dirhams (MMDH), following an increase of 57.8% one year. previously, according to the Department of Studies and Financial Forecasts (DEPF).

This result is due to the strengthening of the value of shipments of phosphate derivatives by 43.1% (following +63.9%) and crude phosphate by 49.7% (following +21.9%), having benefited from a increase in average export prices of 59.4% and 177.6% respectively, indicates the DEPF in its February 2023 economic report.

The added value (VA) of the extractive sector, in volume, showed a drop of 7.7%, on average, at the end of the first nine months of 2022, following a decline of 4.8% in the first quarter (Q1), 7.8% in the second quarter (Q2) and 10.4% in the third quarter (Q3) 2022.

This downward trend was accentuated in Q4-2022 with a decline of 31.6%, bringing its decline at the end of 2022 to -20.1%, specifies the same source, noting that this evolution is in line with that of production. crude phosphates, the main component of the extractive sector, which fell, in volume, by 11% in Q1, 16.5% in Q2 and 20.3% in Q3-2022.

For its part, the production of phosphate derivatives fell, to a lesser extent, by 6.7%, following a decline of 1.7% a year earlier. (With MAP)
