Chinese President Xi Jinping has just been sworn in for his third term at the National People’s Congress. He arrived in Moscow at the weekend to meet his Russian counterpart there. This will probably be followed by a meeting with the Ukrainian President Selenskyj. According to China, it wants to mediate in the conflict, but Washington is increasingly accusing China of taking sides with Russia. Xi Jinping, on the other hand, is trying to establish himself as the third neutral force – and is pursuing his own long-term goals in the process.
