In Indian Wells, Medvedev defeated American Brandon Nakashima (6:4, 6:3), Belarusian Ilya Ivashko (6:2, 3:6, 6:1), German Alexander Zverev (6:7, 7:6, 7: 5), Spaniard Alejandro Davidovich-Fokin (6:3, 7:5) and American Francis Tiafoe (7:5, 7:6).
In the game with Zverev, the Russian received an ankle injury, but, as subsequent meetings showed, it is not so serious as to interfere with playing and winning. Daniil even ironically remarked that following the injury he began to act better.
