25 years ago, the first women joined the army – and she is still there today – army & civil service

The meeting with Karin Pirschner has already begun before she enters the room. It’s a Tuesday at the end of March. The morning sun falls through the narrow windows of the Standschützen barracks in Kranebitten near Innsbruck. Three soldiers have sat down on the dining table in the bare coffee kitchen. They sip coffee and talk regarding women in the army.
