FPÖ – Deimek: Banning ChatGPT does not solve any problems | Liberal Parliament Club

It’s not the software that’s the problem, it’s how people deal with it

Vienna (OTS) After the ban on ChatGBT/OpenAI in Italy, FPÖ technology spokesman NAbg. Gerhard Deimek once morest such a measure in Austria: “In Italy, credit and user data were leaked. It is the responsibility of the company that had this leak to take the appropriate measures and to inform and compensate their customers if necessary. Banning a service provider does not improve the situation, however, because criminals are usually one step ahead of investigators anyway. There have been many credit card leaks from card providers in recent years. Back then, no one called for a ban on well-known credit card companies.”

Deimek renewed his call for a clear legal framework and for creating awareness of the risks of using artificial intelligence (AI) instruments. The wealth of data available on the Internet is unmanageable. Industrial espionage can already be carried out by collecting the data in a targeted manner. According to Deimek, it is the task of politicians to create the appropriate regulations. “Even with AI, the ultimate responsibility must lie with the person using these programs. Final decisions must always be made by people,” demanded the liberal technology spokesman. It shouldn’t be passed on to machines.
