On April 5, the ceremonial flag consecration of Colonel Oskars Kalpak’s vocational high school took place in Riga Castle. Addressing the high school students, President Egils Levits said: “You are not a military unit, but you already understand what it means to be the guardian of your country. You are not here by chance. You are all students of Kalpak School. You feel the same national will that Oskars Kalpaks felt at the time of establishing and winning the independence of our free Latvia. This flag contains the essence of Colonel Oskar Kalpak.
