He hasn’t been seen since his quiet stint in Denver last season, but DeMarcus Cousins still thinks he belongs in the league. At 32, the former star pivot sees himself downright better than several big names on the circuit, just that!
We knew him in his heyday with Sacramento from 2010 to 2017. DeMarcus Cousins has, for several years, been one of the most dominant pivots in the NBA thanks in particular to an extraordinary power. Unfortunately, he has had a big descent into hell since then. Between injuries and lack of confidence of the leaders, the big man has simply disappeared from the floors.
Passing to the Bucks then to the Nuggets in 2021-22, Boogie is now unemployed and is trying somehow to seduce a franchise. Recently on Kevin Garnett’s podcast, DMC was also indignant at the lack of interest he suffered. Because despite his long absence, the former Kings remains convinced that he is part of the world’s gratin in his position:

Right now, I’m the third-best center in the league. I’m a fan of the game, I watch the games all the time, I always enjoy seeing all these talents and players, but the game has changed in my opinion.
In an NBA where Nikola Jokic, Joel Embiid, Anthony Davis, Domantas Sabonis, Bam Adebayo and many more dominate, Cousins still sees himself as part of the elite. Surprising from the native of Alabama who has therefore not walked the floors for over a year. Beyond his recent inactivity, it should also be remembered that Cousins was only a back-up pivot in his last seasons.
Paradoxically, while the facts are quite indisputable, the big man continues to think that his current situation is complete nonsense. According to him, the fault would clearly be with the others:

There is no doubt that this news will annoy DeMarcus Cousins, who is impatient and wants to put on a jersey once more… As the playoffs approach, some teams might look into the matter. After all, Top 3 or not, it might turn out to be a golden deal.
