A suspect was arrested after the arson on Thursday evening of a squatted house in Ottignies, we learned on Friday from the Walloon Brabant prosecutor’s office.
The fire was started, Thursday evening shortly after 11:00 p.m., at a four-sided house located along Avenue Reine Astrid. The building was used by squatters.
The fire completely destroyed the building and damaged two vehicles parked nearby. The heat radiation also caused damage to nearby buildings, including cracked windows.
A man who was illegally occupying the premises was arrested and deprived of his liberty as a suspect.
