When the sea turtle now living at San Diego’s Birch Aquarium was found in New Jersey in 2013, it was in a sorry state. She had fallen into the cooling inlet of a power plant and was apparently unable to free herself from there on her own. The young female was severely underweight and part of the rim of her shell had broken off.
