The story holds all of Colombia in suspense. For a month, four children have been lost in the Amazon jungle, after a plane crash. More than 200 people are mobilized to find them. The army claims to be on the verge of finding them.
Colombia holds its breath. Nearly 160 soldiers helped by 70 indigenous volunteers are looking day and night, in the middle of the jungle, for four children who would have survived the plane crash on May 1 in the south of the country.
Among the survivors, three children, from the Uitoto indigenous group, aged five, nine and thirteen, and an eleven-month-old infant. They were traveling with their mother and two relatives. They died in the accident.
Clues found several days ago, such as makeshift shelters, chewed fruit and small footprints, reassure the possibility that the children are still alive. The Colombian army says it is “very close” to finding them.

“We hope 100% to be able to find the children. Thanks to the traces discovered, we know that the children left the scene of the accident”, explains General Pedro Sánchez, commander of the special operations.
And to add: “The jungle, even if it is inhospitable, offers them food and drink. They belong to an indigenous ethnic group, which allows them to adapt and survive more easily in the jungle.”
On the ground or in the air, the soldiers broadcast a message recorded by their grandmother, who asks the four children not to move any more, so that they can survive until they are found.
The Air Force dropped food and a lighter on the search area. The relief operation is dubbed Hope. That of an entire country.
