Danilo Gallinari Chooses to Stay with Boston Celtics Despite Knee Injury: 2023-2024 Season Update

Subscriber to the bench all season because of a knee injury, Danilo Gallinari will have a new opportunity to wear the colors of Boston. The Italian winger has indeed decided to stay at the Celtics next season.

Thanks to his $6.8 million player option, Danilo Gallinari had the choice between staying in Boston in 2023-24 and testing the Free Agency market this summer. He chose the first option according to Adrian Wojnarowski ofESPN.

Veteran forward Danilo Gallinari has exercised his $6.8 million player option to return to the Boston Celtics for the 2023-2024 season, his agent Michael Tellem of Excel Sports Management told ESPN on Thursday.

A rather logical choice when we know that the Italian is coming out of a white season because of a rupture of a ligament in his left knee (for the second time in his career…) suffered in early September 2022. Difficult indeed in these conditions to negotiate a new contract on the market, and then we imagine that Gallo has a great desire to help a Celtics team which will once once more challenge for the title next season.

Virtually recovered from his nasty injury, Danilo Gallinari remains a quality offensive player, who shot almost 12 points per game at 38% from 3-pointers and 90% from free throws during his last season on the field, in Atlanta in 2021-22. He’s an outside threat that can make Boston’s offense even better, provided he recovers well from his big glitch.

See you soon 35 brooms, that’s all we wish him.
