Stephan Eicher: A Musical Journey and Personal Tragedy during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Recognized for his captivating melodies, Stephan Eicher opened his heart during a recent interview with Nathalie Lévy on the set ofAs an aside, Thursday, May 11, 2023. Born into a family of musicians, the 62-year-old singer has been immersed in a musical environment since a young age. This family passion for music also led to the formation of the group Grauzone, in the early 1980s, with his brother, but it was solo that the artist really shone. A fruitful collaboration with the writer Philippe Dijan produced memorable hits, such as Déjeuner en paix in 1991. However, behind these musical successes, the Swiss composer also had to face devastating personal dramas. During the interview, he notably returned to the darkest event of his life, which took place during the year 2020, during the covid-19 pandemic : the death of his parents. The confinement did not help matters here, making the period of loneliness unbearable, exacerbated by the pain of losing two family members “a few weeks apart”.

With great emotion, Stephan Eicher notably confided: “If you lose your mother, and you are all alone to bury her… And you lose your father, six weeks later…”. This period has been made even more painful by funeral restrictions, put in place to limit the spread of the virusbut which caused an emotional shock in many bereaved(…)
