In the very heart of Little Dominican Republic in Upper Manhattan is located the Radio Hotelspace where the restaurant is also located Jalao.
Opened just over a year ago, this boutique hotel has a total of 221 rooms distributed among the 18 floors of the buildinga terrace where you can appreciate a 360 view of New York City, conference rooms, and a space for podcast recordings.
Everything in it is alluding to the dominican culturethe large lamps covered in rolls, the masks of lame devils, representing each province of the country, the music, the food, and of course, the staff.
The hotel is named in honor of Antonio Espaillat, the main shareholder of the project and the owner of the restaurant. Jalao, a major attractions of the place.

The iconic restaurant in the colonial city of Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, opened its doors in New York as a renewed concept, but keeping its essence both in their dishes and in their cocktails.
The menu was created by Noemi Guzmanthe executive chef of Jalao SDQ, and who moved to New York to train the entire team of cooks, led by the Peruvian chef Wilmer Chuqillaqui.
The concept of the restaurant was elaborated by Richard Sandovala Mexican “celebrity chef”, owner of more than 60 restaurants around the world.
The dishes
Fried fish is the star dish of Jalaoserved to “small mouth” style. . . . Two pounds of chillo served alongside a poblano tartar, mojo, wasakaka, creole mayo roasted chillies, guandules moro and tostones.
The goat and chenchén is one of the most ordered disheswhich consists of an asopao’ de chivo together with majarete corn.
Another of the most requested dishes are the “Rabo encendío”, “sea food mofongo” and the “fish fillet with coconut”.

The most requested is Margarita Marketa mix of Patrón Silver, agave, passion fruits (chinola) and hibiscus flower.
The Tropical Mojito is next on the list. A combination of zacapa, a Guatemalan rum, from an area that bears the same name, mint, lemon and club soda.
The traditional drink that might not stay: the to die dreamingserved with evaporated milk, orange juice and vodka.
Birthday
In the month of September, the restaurant and the hotel will celebrate their first anniversary that will have as a guest Fernando Villalona. They also hope to integrate live music, one of the most important attractions of Jalao.
