On the train line between Brussels and Ghent, travelers should expect delays or partial cancellations shortly before midday this Thursday. A collision occurred in Affligem shortly before 11 a.m., indicate Infrabel and SNCB. A train linking Brussels to Ghent, carrying more than 600 passengers, was still stopped at this location around 11:30 a.m.

As trains in the vicinity of the accident can be diverted locally via Denderleeuw, disruption remains limited overall. Trains will run there with a delay of a good quarter of an hour, but it is also possible that trains will be partially canceled.

No trains are blocked behind the train in question, which was traveling to Knokke from Brussels airport. The approximately 600 passengers on board this train will be evacuated by bus. “The first buses have already left,” declared Bart Crols, spokesperson for SNCB.
