New Delhi: The National Censor Board has reacted to actor Vishal’s serious allegation that he demanded a bribe to get the film approved. The Censor Board has stated that it will not allow any scandal to tarnish the face of the Censor Board and is taking the actor’s allegation very seriously.

The Censor Board also came out with its response soon following Vishal made the corruption allegation public. There is an online certification system for the film certificate. Image has ‘regular updates on new system improvements’. But manufacturers and applicants still prefer to apply through intermediaries or agents. Such trends defeat the objective of eliminating third-party involvement in the certification process, they said in a statement.

‘With the implementation of high-speed digitization and complete process automation with emphasis on minimum human interaction, the involvement of middlemen/agents has reduced significantly, however, this practice still prevails in some regions, defeating the objective of transparency and smooth functioning of the certification process. CBFC said in an official statement.

Yesterday, actor Vishal released a four-minute long video addressing Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, naming two persons from the Censor Board in connection with the Hindi version of his Marc Anthony film. This prompted a swift response from the ruling BJP.
