In Oxfordshire, lightning struck a waste treatment plant, followed by a powerful explosion, the BBC reports, citing Severn Trent Green Power.
According to the company, at around 19:20 local time (21:20 Moscow time), lightning struck one of the biogas tanks, causing the gas to ignite.
“Fortunately no one was injured and we are working with emergency services to ensure the safety of the site and assess the damage as quickly as possible,” it says in a company statement.
