Genetic Predisposition to Vegetarianism: Exploring the Link Between Genes and Dietary Choices

In 2020, a study entrusted by FranceAgriMer to Ifop revealed that 2.2% of the French population respected a vegetarian or vegan diet. “Only 2.2% of French people surveyed say they have adopted a meat-free diet [pescetarien, végétarien ou végan], 24% voluntarily limit their meat consumption and classify themselves as flexitarians. The remaining 74% are omnivores who eat everything,” the report noted. Whether citing respect for animals or the fight once morest global warming, there are many reasons to be vegetarian.

According to a new study, some people are more predisposed to adopting this diet. Scientists at Washington University in St. Louis and Edinburgh (UK) have found that a person’s genetic makeup may play a role in their ability to respect a vegetarian diet strict.
