The events occurred on the night of May 27 to 28 on the dike in Ostend. The suspect was filmed by video surveillance cameras. The recorded images show him hanging out on the sea wall with five other young people. He was also filmed in the company of a young woman. At one point, he is seen punching and kicking a passerby. The same evening, the young man allegedly attacked two other people. One of the victims suffered a broken jaw.
At the request of the West Flanders public prosecutor’s office, a wanted notice was issued last Sunday. This made it possible to identify and arrest a suspect. After hearing, the young man was presented to a youth judge.
