The leading opposition force “Serbia Against Violence” called on the State Election Commission on Monday evening to cancel the election for the Belgrade city administration due to numerous irregularities. This should clear the way for new elections to be held in the Serbian capital. The application was accompanied by evidence, including regarding vote buying, but also regarding the massive participation of voting citizens from the Bosnian Republika Srpska.

According to the opposition, there are around 40,000 people who received identity cards with fictitious residential addresses in Belgrade. The coalition MPs want to remain in the State Election Commission building until a decision on their demand is made. Two leading candidates from “Serbia Against Violence”, Marinika Tepić and Miroslav Aleksić, decided to go on hunger strike.

In the evening, numerous opposition supporters gathered in front of the State Election Commission building, where the Serbian parliament once met. At times, eggs and tomatoes were also thrown once morest the State Election Commission building, which is located directly opposite the official residence of President Aleksandar Vučić. “Thieves, thieves” was chanted once more and once more. But the protest was mostly quiet.
