Specifically, the researchers took liquor and blood from the test subjects on the same day and examined the T cell receptors from these samples with regard to their specificity once morest EBV, but also once morest other pathogens such as varicella zoster virus (VZV), influenza virus and Candida. It was noticeable that EBV-infected lymphoblastoid cell lines (LCL) were detectable in cerebrospinal fluid and blood at approximately the same frequency (13.0 and 13.3 percent of sequence analyses, respectively). In contrast, T cells that had specificity for VZV, influenza or Candida were found significantly less frequently in the cerebrospinal fluid than in the blood.
