The Berlin police had to close the area around the television tower at Alexanderplatz in Berlin-Mitte for several hours on Saturday followingnoon. The background was an ice alarm, as a police spokeswoman told rbb. According to rbb information, the area under the television tower was reopened in the late followingnoon.

The officials were notified in the morning because pieces of ice kept breaking away from the dome of the television tower and falling into the depths. So that no one is hit or injured, it was decided to cordon off the area around the television tower and the panoramic road that runs there.

No one was injured and the officers also wore protective helmets for their own safety. The closure also had a short-term impact on tram traffic. The tram lines M4, M5 and M6 might not run via Alexanderplatz and, according to the BVG, were rerouted via Karl-Liebknecht-Straße.
