TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Alabama women’s golf wrapped up the first two rounds of the Florida State Matchup with two players inside the top 20, including Elina Sinz at 14th overall with a 3-under par 141 (69-72). As a team, the Crimson Tide is in a tie for fifth place with a team total of even-par 576 (289-287).
Sarah Edwards joined Sinz among the top-20 individuals, currently in a tie for 19th following carding a 1-under par 143 (74-69). The Tide is one of six teams throughout the 14-team field to shoot even-par or better during the first two rounds.
The three-day, 54-hole tournament hosted by Florida State will continue Saturday and is being contested at the par 72, 6,250-yard Seminole Legacy Golf Club.
ROUND ONE HIGHLIGHTS
- Elina Sinz posted seven birdies in her opening round, carding a 3-under par 69 and followed up with an even par 72 in the second round of the tournament
- Sarah Edwards’ best round of the day came in the second round, shooting 3-under par 69 with four birdies
- Competing as an individual, Mattie Frick sits in 25th overall at 1-over par 145 (71-74)
- Harriet Lockley recorded four birdies throughout the first two rounds as she currently sits in 28th place at 2-over par 146 (72-74)
- Taylor Kehoe moved up six spots in the second round following shooting 1-over par 73 for a total of 3-over par 147 (74-73) for the opening day, as both Kehoe and Kaitlyn Schroeder sit tied at 33rd overall
TEAM RESULTS
- Duke (-31) leads the 14-team field 14 strokes ahead of 2nd place and tournament host Florida State (-17)
- Duke’s Katie Li leads the player leaderboard at 12-under par 132 (66-66)
UP NEXT
- Alabama will tee off in round three of the event Saturday morning beginning at 8:05 a.m. CT on hole No. 1 paired alongside Baylor and Nebraska
