Ferenc Gegesy also starts against Krisztina Baranyi

Budapest IX is running as a mayoral candidate. in Ferencváros district, Ferenc Gegesy, who led the Ferencváros municipality between 1990 and 2010 – Magyar Hang writes.

The former mayor was asked by nine current municipal representatives to run once more: members of the MSZP, DK, Párbeszéd, Jobbik, and politicians who left Momentum.

Gegesy confirmed to the paper that he is running, and that even at the age of 74, he is in such a mental and physical condition that he can fulfill this position.

According to him, under the leadership of the current mayor, Krisztina Baranyi, there is a civil war going on in the representative body, and he believes that he might create peace. He claims that representative body meetings are not forums for politicking, where decisions must be made on professional issues.

When asked by the paper if he is not afraid that he and Krisztina Baranyi will share some of the voters, and thus the Fidesz candidate Andrea Gyurákovics may win, Gegesy replied that there is no need to fear this, because the ruling party has weakened in the big cities following the pardon scandal. and so also in the district.

If he is elected mayor, he would focus on the rehabilitation of the district: around 900 people live in 32 houses in unworthy conditions, and this situation must be changed.

Gegesy worked as Krisztina Baranyi’s chief adviser from 2019, but resigned from this post last November.

In Ferencváros, along with Krisztina Baranyi and Ferenc Gegesy, Zsolt Szilágyi (Jobbik), Károly Kvacskay (Mi Hazánk) and Dániel Cséplő (Solidarity) have so far announced that they are running for mayor.
