Tenacious D cancels tour after misplaced joke about shooting Donald Trump

Apologies and a cancelled tour

There was a huge uproar, even in the Australian government: even senator Ralph Babet asked for the band to be expelled. That turned out not to be necessary, because in no time Jack Black responded on Instagram:

I was overwhelmed by what was said on Sunday’s show. I would never condone hate speech or encourage political violence in any form. After much thought, I no longer feel it is appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour, and all future creative plans are on hold. I am grateful for the support and understanding of the fans.

Kyle Gass, the maker of the comment, also apologized:

The line I improvised on stage in Sydney on Sunday night was extremely inappropriate, dangerous and a terrible mistake. I do not condone violence in any form once morest anyone.

What happened was a tragedy and I am incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I offer my deepest apologies to those I have disappointed and sincerely regret any pain I have caused.

Too late now, as Kyle’s management has announced they will no longer support him. To be continued, guaranteed.
