Gujarat Giants: Ashleigh Gardner
taking over the reins in WPL 2025 is Ashleigh Gardner, who inherits the captaincy from Beth Mooney after two successful seasons. This three-time Women’s T20 world Cup winner brings her all-round skills and experience to the Gujarat Giants. A valuable asset throughout the team’s history, Gardner has contributed with both bat and ball, scoring 324 runs and claiming 17 wickets across 16 WPL matches.
Her extraordinary contributions to the game have earned her the Player of the Tournament award at the Women’s T20 World Cup in 2023, along with two Women’s Big Bash league titles with Sydney Sixers in 2016-17 and 2017-18. Her leadership will undoubtedly be a key factor in the Giants’ quest for the title.
Mumbai Indians: Harmanpreet Kaur
Harmanpreet Kaur, the seasoned captain of the Indian women’s cricket team across all formats, will once again lead Mumbai Indians in WPL 2025.Her leadership has been instrumental in Mumbai’s success,culminating in their inaugural WPL title in 2023.
Harmanpreet holds the distinction of being the first Indian woman to score a century in a T20 International. Her batting prowess has been a force to reckon with in the WPL, amassing 549 runs in 17 matches at an impressive average of 45.75 and a strike rate of 137.94.
UP Warriorz: Deepti Sharma
Deepti Sharma takes on the captaincy of UP Warriorz for WPL 2025,stepping into the role after Alyssa Healy’s injury ruled her out of the tournament.This move marks a historic moment for the UP Warriorz, as Deepti will become the first player to lead her home franchise in their home stadium.
Deepti, a renowned all-rounder for India, has been a vital part of the UP Warriorz as the inaugural season. She is the team’s second-highest wicket-taker with 19 scalps in 17 games. Making history as the first Indian to ever claim a hat-trick in the WPL, the 27-year-old has also contributed 385 runs to the team’s cause. Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Smriti Mandhana
Smriti Mandhana, India’s leading run-scorer in women’s T20Is, will continue her captaincy journey with Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Leading the team since the inaugural season, she achieved significant success by guiding the team to victory in the 2024 WPL.
Mandhana’s leadership on the international stage began at just 20 years old when she led India against England in a T20I series, becoming the youngest T20I captain for India. She also steered the Trailblazers to victory in the Women’s T20 Challenge in 2020.

Meg Lanning: thank you! We’re definitely building on the momentum from last season. We have a fantastic squad with a great mix of experience and youthful energy.This year, our focus is on consistency, peaking at the right time, and ultimately bringing the WPL trophy home to delhi.
