Union Leader Denounces Goverment Tactics Amidst Protests

Rodolfo Aguiar, a prominent union leader with the ATE union, has accused the government of attempting to silence him ahead of planned demonstrations. Aguiar, a vocal critic of the administration, alleges that his current workplace at PAMI, a state-run healthcare institution, is seeking to terminate his employment in retaliation for his activism.

“In the preview of our mobilizations to human capital and the PAMI,” Aguiar revealed, “Social work officials seek to say goodbye.” he claims that these individuals have inquired about his work file and are preparing “final liquidation” paperwork to expel him from the organization.

“How nervous are they? Know the same as with these ‘drinks of drowning,’ they will not be able to hide the devastating effects that the Government implies ‘The presidential scam,’” said the unionist, linking the alleged attempt to disqualify him to a wider effort to divert attention from other controversies, especially those surrounding presidential hopeful Javier Milei.

Aguiar, who plans to lead a demonstration at the Obelisk in Buenos Aires on February 20th, maintains that his removal from PAMI will not deter him or his supporters. “If you think my unemployment could stop the conflict, it means that they did not learn anything from 2024. Relentlessly the protests will increase,” he warned.

His accusations come as Milei faces increasing scrutiny for promoting a cryptocurrency called $LIBRA, leading to legal action against him both domestically and internationally. Aguiar sees this as a calculated move by the government to distract from the potential fallout of Milei’s actions. “The credibility of Javier Milei collapses before the world and his authority vanished. Nor dream of a truce, this will continue blow by blow,” he added.

This escalation of tensions highlights the deep divisions within Argentine society and the mounting pressure on the government to address the public’s growing concerns about economic instability and political corruption. the outcome of these protests and the ongoing inquiry into Milei’s cryptocurrency dealings will undoubtedly have significant implications for the contry’s political landscape.

Exclusive Interview with Union Leader Rodolfo Aguiar: “Government’s Tactics Won’t Silence Me”

Q: Can you start by telling us more about the attempts by PAMI to terminate your employment?

Rodolfo Aguiar: Certainly. as I mentioned earlier, officials from PAMI, where I currently work, have initiated steps to remove me from my position. They’ve been inquiring about my work file and preparing paperwork for my ‘liquidation’. It’s clear they’re trying to silence me before our planned demonstrations.

Q: Do you believe this is a direct response to your activism and criticism of the government?

Aguiar: Absolutely. they’re scared of the power of the people, and they’re trying to stop our voices from being heard. But they’ve underestimated us before, and they’ll do so again. We won’t be silenced so easily.

Q: You’ve linked your potential dismissal to the wider issues surrounding presidential hopeful Javier Milei. Can you elaborate on that?

Aguiar: Of course. the government is desperate to distract from Milei’s controversies, especially his dealings with the $LIBRA cryptocurrency. My removal would be another attempt to shift the spotlight, but it won’t work. People are waking up to their tactics, and they won’t stand for it.

Q: Despite the challenges, you’re planning a major exhibition on February 20th. How resolute are you and your supporters to continue these protests?

Aguiar: More determined than ever. We’ve seen their tricks before, and we’re not falling for them again. The people of Argentina deserve better, and we won’t rest until we get it. we’ll be at the Obelisk on the 20th, rain or shine, and we invite everyone who believes in justice and accountability to join us.

Q: What do you hope to achieve with these protests, and what message do you have for the government?

Aguiar: We want change. We want transparency and accountability. We want the people’s voice to be heard, not silenced. To the government, I say this: You can try to dismiss us, distract us, but you can’t ignore us forever. The people demand action, and we won’t stop until we get it.

Final thoughts? Join us on February 20th.Together, we can send a powerful message that we won’t tolerate corruption and silence anymore.
